The
headlines shout out the latest bailout of the American
economy and its financial institutions – as we read our
newspapers, we are astounded that today’s bailout
outpaces yesterday’s bailout. We see that Billions of
dollars are draining away from the wealth of the nation
like water that dribbles from the palm of the hand.
Great holes in America’s financial moneybag are allowing
financial funds, retirement funds, insurance companies,
credit lines, and the American dream – the value of the
family home – to bleed dry. Subprime loans, Wallstreet’s
search for profits, the bundling of mortgages, and shady
lending practices are all part of the montage of greed
that has brought America, western society, and the
global economy to financial disaster. Starting with
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and peering down through the
layers of transactions by Wallstreet, streetwise
mortgage brokers, and willingly-deluded loan applicants,
we see one consistent element – greed. And it’s not hard
to discern that it’s a greed-driven moral collapse that
has brought the monumental upheaval (unprecedented in
this generation) that is forcing changes in how the
financial institutions of the western world will
henceforth carry out business.
But there are bigger changes ahead for this world that
don’t just center on financial markets. The changes
involve the future of all nations on this earth and how
they are to be governed. The Bible makes it clear that
we are soon to see disasters befall this world that will
be beyond mankind’s ability to solve. There won’t be any
$700 billion dollar bailouts for what lies ahead. In
fact, mankind will bring the nations of this world to
the point that if there were not a powerful intervention
by Jesus Christ, the world’s populations would be
destroyed (Matthew 24:22). Fortunately, the Bible tells
us mankind will survive, but this world, meaning man’s
constructed institutions and governments, will be swept
away.
We have, in articles and published literature available
on this website, disclosed the fact that God has a
specific plan for man. Our last article discussed how
God is going to set up his kingdom on this earth. Before
that can happen, however, a major event must take place:
Jesus Christ must return. Our booklet, The Gospel
According To Christ, talks about his return in detail.
Also, there is one specific holy day God commands us to
observe annually that pictures this event. That holy day
will be observed this year on September 30th, from
sunset to sunset. It is called the Feast of Trumpets
(Leviticus 23:23-25).
The Feast of Trumpets pictures the return of Jesus
Christ to set up the government of his Father over all
nations of this earth. He will rule as King over kings
and Lord over all who rule, whatever capacity they are
in (Revelation 19:16). While the Bible tells us great
disaster will precede the return of Jesus Christ, his
return is prophesied to establish lasting peace and
prosperity on the earth. The rule of law for the kingdom
will be the Ten Commandments described in Exodus 20.
The changes that are coming are so colossal that the
result can only be described as bringing a new world
order. This new world order will not resemble that of
our present world in any way. Financial instability will
never threaten families and their well being again
because God’s laws – the very laws man is busily
rejecting today – will defeat the greed for gain that
has brought us to our current financial crisis. Neither
will the vast wealth generated by God’s kingdom be
accumulated for the purpose of creating giant financial
institutions like those of Wallstreet. Instead the
wealth of this world will be used to educate all mankind
in God’s ways that lead to prosperity for all people.
The prosperity that follows on the heels of vast
harvests of properly managed food crops will eliminate
the starvation that stalks many nations today (Amos
9:13). The nations that were crushed at Christ’s return
will be resurrected from near annihilation to bring
their people to the true worship of God. War will not
plague the people of the earth as it does today (See
Isaiah 11). These are just some brief highlights of the
changes that are about to take place on this earth.
Before this new world order can be established, however,
mankind must learn that leadership driven by greed has
the ultimate result of causing chaos for mankind. The
downward spiral we are presently experiencing is only
going to get worse until mankind in general realizes
this world needs Christ’s intervention.
In ancient Israel the blowing of trumpets meant the
people were being warned of impending war. The Feast of
Trumpets points to a time just ahead that will involve
war among nations in the Middle East. The Bible tells us
this warfare will be so calamitous, it would destroy all
mankind if it were not ended by Christ at his return:
Zechariah 14:1-4
1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil
shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2 For I will
gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the
city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the
women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into
captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be
cut off from the city. 3 Then shall the LORD go forth,
and fight against those nations, as when he fought in
the day of battle. 4 And his feet shall stand in that
day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem
on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the
midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and
there shall be a very great valley; and half of the
mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it
toward the south. KJV
We can also read of the return of Christ in the
following scriptures:
Revelation 19:11-16
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse;
and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True,
and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His
eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many
crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but
he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped
in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon
white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15
And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it
he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with
a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the
fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on
his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF
KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. KJV
The Feast of Trumpets pictures for us one major piece in
the overall plan of salvation for mankind. Without it,
humanity would continue to suffer from the effects of
greed until, as the Bible points out, all life on the
planet would be destroyed. Mankind is presently proving
its inability to manage the abundant wealth God has
given to them. The greed to which man has succumbed
highlights a decline in moral character that will
ultimately bring world disasters that demand Christ’s
return to take a hold of and change this world, once and
for all. |
